If you are returning to Hungary from outside the European Union, your household goods can usually be imported duty-free and VAT-free, provided certain conditions are met.
You must prove that you lived outside the EU for at least 12 consecutive months before the move.
The imported goods must have been owned and used by you for at least 6 months prior to the move.
The request for duty-free import must be submitted within 12 months after your arrival in Hungary.
Cars and motorcycles may also qualify for exemption. However, after customs clearance they cannot be sold or rented for 12 months.
